HULDAH CONFIRMS COMING JUDGMENT; JOSIAH SPARED

“Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.’ ” So they took her answer back to the king.” 2 Kings 22:20 NIV

Akin broke a plastic chair while he was alone at home. When his dad asked who did it. He remorsefully confessed immediately that he did it. The father who was furious suddenly calmed down. Then, he said to Akin, you diffused the anger in me by being sincere and remorseful.
King Josiah’s positive response to the rebuke from God’s law to Israel was noted by God. Prophetess Huldah, who interpreted what was written in the Book said that, God will punish Israelites for their disobedience (vv. 16-17). She further noted that God observed Josiah’s humility, remorse, brokenness and tears over Israel’s sins (vs. 19). Therefore, God promised to spare Josiah from the impeding horror and judgement coming upon Judah.
God’s judgement is coming upon all evil doers. He always sends warnings to His children to amend their ways and He is not always happy with those who feel indifferent about their sins. Examine your relationship with God and see if you are standing firm. God is always merciful to those who are repentant. He will spare you from eternal damnation if you will come to Him now.

Insight: Your disposition to sin will reflect your love for God.

Prayer: God, give me a broken and contrite spirit that pleases You.
